Provides nonmedical services and assistance in the home through a registered Home Care Aide. Can include personal care, companionship, meal planning and preparation, laundry, transportation, shopping. Regulated by Home Care Services Bureau under the CA Department of Social Services.

  • Agency required to post their HCO # on all publicity materials
  • Agency required to post license in a visible location in the office
  • Affiliated Home Care Aides are employees of the agency, and
    • Go through Dept. of Justice and FBI background check/clearance
    • Have TB test
    • Complete 5 hours of training at beginning of employment and 5 additional hours of ongoing training each year
    • Agency is required to provide the training and issue transferrable certificates
    • Home Care Aides must be registered on the CA Home Care Aide Registry, a web site of registered Home Care Aides and Home Care Aide applicants that is established and maintained by the CA Department of Social Services.
